Review of One False Move (1991) by Ali B — 19 Oct 2009
Smart, original crime drama from first time director Carl Franklin. Unpredictable script (by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson), starts out as a violent criminals-on-the-run picture, then adds additional stories about big city cops working with a local sherrif in a small town in Arkansas to trap the killers.
The stories and characters eventually converge in an amalgam of brutality, hidden secrets, and deep emotion. The lack of a central protagonist keeps the viewer guessing and helps the movie work on multiple levels.
