Review of One Direction: This Is Us (2013) by David M — 05 Sep 2013
Had low expectations coming into this one but it was better than I thought it would be. If you look past the hype behind them and the constant fangirls then you can honestly respect this as a Documentary.
To say I didn't enjoy it would be a lie and although it did drag a bit and the singing sections could have been avoided at times, the movie as a whole was pretty solid. Seeing this boy band behind the scenes was interesting and brought on a positive viewpoint upon them.
Some of it may be altered from reality, and I can't say what is real and what isn't. I will never know if their chemistry was really that strong or not. The movie is fun, and it's a joy to watch these 5 as real people instead of the constant facade that is put on for fans, but it's hard to tell if they had their facade on for the movie.
Even though the movie may have its flaws, the concert footage and scenes were eye candy and to get to know them as people turned out to be more enjoyable than I thought. It wasn't anything too special but it wasn't that bad either.
