Review of One Day in September (1999) by Tony B — 05 Aug 2008
Mezmerizing Doc about the events at the Olympics in Munich in 1972.
Macdonald plays the film almost like a feature movie using footage from the event and interviews with those involved.
What the film shows more than anything else was how organized the terrorist group were and How naive the German Authorities were when it came to dealing with these men.
By using the Olympics the Palestinians were able to show the world the cause they were fighting for and the Germans showed how much of a hash they made of the rescue of the hostages.
An Excellent Companion piece to Spielbergs Munich Film and an excellent film on its own merits.
