Colin Farrell plays an Irish fisherman who one day catches something more than fish. There is a beautiful young woman (Alicia Bachleda) caught up in his net. To say she is acting strange is an understatement.

There is a hint that she's some sort of water creature that's encouraged even more from his daughter who's in a wheelchair because she has kidney problems (we see them go every week to what looks like a mobile dialysis station).

His daughter's name is Annie (wonderfully played by Alison Barry who's never acted before, a total natural). He puts the woman up in his mother's former house outside of the fishing village.

He's starting to have feelings for her and well as she has for him. But there's somebody who just came to the island who's looking for her and when the confrontation finally happens we learn more of why this woman is here and who she is.

Nice little modern fairy tale movie with a great performance as I said from newcomer Alison Barry. Farrell does a good job performing in his native country and Alicia Bachleda was quite fetching in her role.
