Review of Ondine (2010) by Aby S — 25 Oct 2010
Ah. It's Ireland, a love story between a fisherman and a woman who turns out of nowhere, who speaks English with a strange, foreign accent; it's set near Cork with its urban/ port and beautiful small coves landscapes with a melancholic mood in the pubs where people drink off their misery.
Pure Irishness! So, while this is not a great film, I'm very partial toward it. Also, the woman is identified by Collin Farrell's impaired daughter (who is very finely portrayed) as a selkie and she sings a Sigur Ros song.
And we even get to see the Icelandic band on a TV sequence. So, I could not dislike it.
