Review of Ondine (2010) by Bastet 0 — 26 Nov 2010
There's just something magical about a Neil Jordan movie. His always artful eye. A steadfast appearance from the enigmatic Mr. Rea. The telling of an isolated (Irish) tale, filled with mythical--and many times political--cultural resonance.
And Ondine, a sea-swept love story about a lonely fisherman, his precocious but seriously ill daughter, and the mysterious woman he snags in his net, is no exception. It's just SO pretty--all of it--the colors, the characters, and the honest spirit it captures.
