Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Keith G — 10 Apr 2010
Sergio Leone is a master of the western and "Once Upon a Time in the West" is his masterpiece. The movie features all of Leone's signature elements and employs them flawlessly. Very well written and beautifally filmed.
The cast is fantastic and features a young, mysterious Charles Bronson and a gorgeous Claudia Cardinale. But the most memorable performance is given by Henry Fonda who surprised many by playing one of the most cold-blooded, evil villians you will find on film.
Awesome score by Leone favorite Ennio Morricone. So many memorable moments including one of the most shocking opening 30 minutes you will see. Whether you're a western fan or not, this is a movie you shouldn't miss.
