Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Mustafa Ç — 25 Jul 2010
A film with a fantastic start. Jason Robards steals the crown for most memorable character and Henry Fonda as a really bad guy!!
The rest of the cast is brilliant. One of my all time great films. Just slightly behind the good the bad and the ugly.
This film would of been the my ultimate western for three reasons.
If Leone managed to cast Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef as the three killers in the opening sequence of the film. Which he nearly did, we can only dream.
However not belittling Jack Elam, Woody Strode and Al Mulock, they do a stellar job as the killers.
The music composed by legendary Ennio Morricone, who changed the sound for western films forever, is the icing on the cake for Once upon a time in the West.
I would recommend anyone to watch this film.
