Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Anssi V — 06 Nov 2010
One of the western films that you just have to see at least once in your life. And for a good reason. This is just about as perfect as a spaghetti-western can get. Slow pacing, haunting music by Ennio Morricone, tough nail-biting characters, gun battles and a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end.
And the main female character is beautiful as well, which is always a bonus. But anyway, this is a movie that hits all the right notes and delivers to you an unforgettable experience straight from the Wild West.
It has incredible stars, great music and atmosphere, good characters and it's just damn enjoyable to watch. And I'm actually kind of glad that Clint Eastwood didn't accept the role of Harmonica when it was offered to him, because Charles Bronson makes a great role in this one, and it was a pleasure to witness it.
Eastwood he ain't, but he's damn good in his own right. So yeah, definitely worth checking out.
