Review of Once Upon a Time in the West (1968) by Edgar C — 23 Apr 2011
Just like Leone marked the ending of his Spaghetti Western trilogy, Once Upon a Time in the West shows the domain of progress over tradition. In addition, the stares, the cinematography, the silence and the environment as a whole transforms a deserted land into a hostile place to walk. The style is absolutely predominant, yet strikingly magnificent, and Cardinale shines as the classic Golden Age persona with clear motives and with a nature solid as a rock.
99/100.
