Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Jasmine W — 03 Nov 2009
After achieving a great sense of admiration for 'El Mariachi', and being mildly entertained by 'Desperado' (except for the second half), 'Once Upon A Time In Mexico' plays the same note but that note is getting a little sour.
I'll still say I wasn't bored and there were enough interesting characters, especially Johnny Depp, to keep this from going too far south. Up to this point Robert Rodriguez was on a roller coaster with his films but after seeing what he can do with films like 'Sin City' and 'Planet Terror', you know he has the ability to do better than this.
I'd only recommend this to anyone watching the Mariachi trilogy and certainly not as a stand alone picture...
