Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Brendon — 01 Jul 2009
Possibly the best in the "Mariachi" trilogy. Everyone is well cast...Johnny Depp as the slightly crazed-yet perfectly sane- CIA agent, Salma Hayek as the sexy fugitive sidekick, and of course Antonio Banderas as the badass Mariachi with the infamous guitar case that holds so much ass-kicking wonders for anyone that crosses his path.
Robert Rodriguez outdid himself with this one, but in a perfectly good way. He keeps the action paced and the dialogue well written. All that's missing is a cameo by Quentin Tarantino that made a particular scene in "Desperado" so hilariously memorable.
