Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Michael W — 06 Jun 2014
The movie is so bad that its actually good! The story is lame, and sappy in parts, but it is meant to be! What really stands out in Once Upon A Time In Mexico is the many strong individual performances.
Johnny Depp is a machiavellian C I A agent who add much comic relief. (the one scene where Depp shoots the cook stands out) Trejoe, Rourke and others have memorable roles. Director Robert Rodriguez creates many artistic and memorable scenes which resemble Sergio Leone classic Westerns.
A fun movie to watch. A good movie to turn your brain off and decompress. 3 stars.
