Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by A C — 27 Dec 2009
I have nothing extremely negative to say about this film. While it disappoints on some levels, as in slightly altered generic revenge plot and the uninteresting villains of Eva Mendes and Willem Dafoe. However. Johnny Depp's involvement alone makes these slights forgivable.
Overall, it holds it's place in the trilogy. It's difficult to say absolutely that Desperado was a better film, because there are some truly genius moments. But overall, it entertains as a sequel, and it's enjoyable to re-enter the world of El Mariachi, but perhaps it doesn't stand as strongly without the depth and admiration of Desperado propping it up.
