Review of Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003) by Jay L — 03 Oct 2010
Once Upon A Time In Mexico is vintage Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. It's the explosive and action packed sequel to Desperado. A slick, stylish, edgy, and intense revenge film. It's a full throttle slam bang action film that's crammed with spectacular shootouts and chases. Guaranteed to keep you glued to the edge of your seat until the credits roll. From El Mariachi to Desperado and now Once Upon A Time In Mexico, director Robert Rodriguez is making quite a name for himself in the movie business. His films are always stylish and visually intense, and also extremely violent, Once Upon A Time In Mexico stays true to his style.
Great performances from Johnny Depp, Antonio Banderas, Mickey Rourke, Willem Dafoe, and Cheech Marin. We again follow El Mariachi as he is on a revenge filled and bloody mission to avenge the death of his wife and child.
Its popcorn entertainment at it's best, an easy and entertaining way to spend two hours. It's bloody, violent, and one hell of an action packed adventure.
