Review of Once Upon a Time in China II (1992) by Dom O — 01 Oct 2007
One of jet li's best. Directed by Tsui Hark, this contains some of the best choregraphed fights ever commited to celluoid , with some truely insperational wire work , to help give it that hightend sense of reality.
Hark really earns the title of Spielberg of Hong Kong, but still manages to incorporate a distinct style. the cinematography is beautifully shot and composed. and the use of a mostly albany colour palette, gives the film a unique look and flavor.
contains one of my all time fave fight sequences , that of wong fei hung, against the high priest of the white lotus sect, a truely well shot and edited fight. although the fight between donnie yen and jet li at the films climax comes a close second, purely becuase of Yens, expectional martial arts ability and weapon technique.
