Review of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (2011) by Hassan V — 04 May 2012
This movie is about people, about Anatolia and, first of all, about silence. Were it's characters not so beautifully deep and terrificly acted or Nuri Bilge Ceylan not such a talented and smart director, this peace of art would have been a boring mistake.
That said, this intelligent masterpiece hides, in it's slow rythm and clever dialogues the very essence of cinema and story telling. This film is indeed one of the best Turkish movies ever made, and, as if it weren't enough, a must see for every cinephile.
