Review of Once Upon a Time in America (1984) by Suraj K — 08 Dec 2009
This is like Sergio Leone meets The Godfather in style. A wonderful tale of 4 childhood friends, this almost 4-hour long epic is an ambitious effort by the man known for the great Dollar trilogy westerns.
It is long, slow paced, and pans across a lifetime and is often almost like a dream. DeNiro is methodical as always, James Woods also delivers. All in all it is an honest effort but maybe a hard watch as it is too long but then again that was the intention I guess.
