Review of Once Bitten (1985) by Camille H — 08 Feb 2010
An early jim carrey movie that he did back in the 80's. while today, it seems like the film industry is overpopulated with vampire films, this movie is actually probably better than half of them. the premise revolves around two vampires: the countess (lauren hutton) and her gay assistant (cleavon little).
the countess needs to find a virgin to suck blood from in order to retain her youth and beauty before halloween comes around, so she ventures out and finds young mark kendall (jim carrey), a frustrated teenager who can't seem to get his girlfriend to put out.
while this may be a goofy story (and it certainly is a goofy movie), I couldn't help but be entertained by it. highlights include carrey's halloween dance (which rivals john travolta's dancing skills in saturday night fever) and carrey's overall performance, which was actually serious as opposed to his usual ridiculous comedic performances.
worth a watch if your a carrey fan.
