Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Sunay S — 23 Mar 2009
A masterpiece of acting, screenwriting, and directing. All the pieces seem to come together in this film. It works on so many levels. It is entertaining, thought provoking, and chilling. Marlon Brando and Eva Marie Saint both earn their Oscars with Malden giving one of his best performances ever.
The ending of the film is more moving each time you watch it. The actual film is deep and moving, but when you consider the life of its director and how Terry's life parallels his own, the film is just heartbreaking.
One of the finest pictures ever made!
