Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Alex O — 02 Dec 2009
Well well well. Marlon Brando, eh? What do we have here? Hmm? On the Waterfront, you say? A Classic, you say? Well, I don't doubt that. Let me just check it out to see how good it could possibly be.
108 minutes later, I found myself with my jaw on the floor as I was just amazed by this film. I was captivated by the brilliance of Brando's performance. So captivated, that when this film was reaching it's climax, I found myself cheering. Clap clap clap, said my hands.
But we mustn't forget the other actors. Mainly Karl Malden. He had a monologue during this film that gave me chills. His heroic actions as the priest in this film were just amazing. Also, he's got a huge fucking nose. Jesus Christ, I just wanted to honk the shit out of it. HONK HONK HONK.
Giant noses aside, this movie will always be a classic film. Any doubting it should just take the 108 minutes to watch this film. I guarantee you will also find yourself cheering. Even if you can't get past the hilarious lingo of the time. (Ex. "Finger him in court").
