Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by David H — 08 Apr 2014
Just saw "On the Waterfront" for the first time. Yes, I know about Kazan and HUAC, but in the grayness of this film I see the old eastern Europe along with the dock and ghettos of America, anywhere ruled by corruption and brute force.
There are legendary sequences, most famously with Steiger and Brando in the taxi. Everyone's great, Atmospheric.
