I don't know why but I tend to avoid older movies like the plague because most just don't appeal to me. I remember this movie being on list for a movie discussion group I was a part of but it ended before we got to it.
So I saw that it was coming up and finally viewed it. Once you get past style of older movies this movie has some interesting characters that have a lot thought provoking things to bring to the viewer.
