Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by V A — 28 Nov 2009
A riveting tale of a wronged man rising up against the mob, On The Waterfront is one of the great American masterpieces. Marlon Brando is astounding as Terry Malloy, an ex-prize fighter whose mob loyalties took away his title shot and hopes of a better life. Eva Marie Saint and Karl Malden give phenomenal supporting performances as Edie, Terry's love interest, and Father Barry, the priest who rallies the cheated waterfront workers to rise up against their mob leaders.
Rarely does a film live up to its praise, but On The Waterfront exceeds it. This is one amazing movie.
