Review of On the Waterfront (1954) by Michael R — 02 Apr 2010
What a lovely film. Though the story isn't a peaceful one it's enough for anyone to appreciate. Marlon Brando stars as a cool character, its either that or Brando is that good of an actor.
At times I pictured this tale as the alternate reality if Rocky never won the heavyweight title. Its sad to see how a would be 'contender' never got to feel the glory or victory in something he was really good at. The scene where he speaks to his brother in the car is my favourite. Powerful, eye opening, almost inspirational and it hits the heart. A recommended classic.
