Review of On the Town (1949) by Tom S — 05 Jun 2007
Great showcase for all six stars (women get to be funny - kewl!), exuberant and ambitious. The ballet towards the end kills it temporarily. Kelly would get the mix right in Singin In The Rain a few years later.
The decision to remove much of Sondheim's challenging score also seems to have paid off.
