Review of On The Road (2013) by Michael L — 29 Jun 2013
ON THE ROAD is perfectly fine, never boring but never outrageous either. Far too loyal to the book, the film never relates itself to 2013 nor does it completely make you understand just how revolutionary these people were in the late 40s.
Worst of all, the ridiculous jazz scenes play like way too many bad movies with people writhing on the floor or shaking like banchies. They try very hard to make writing look interesting, not an easy feat, so ultimately ON THE ROAD is just fine.
Not ambitious enough to really make it but certainly not bad. Just fine. But is "fine" what we want for Kerouac?
