Review of On the Road (2012) by Jane G — 29 Jun 2012
My expectations were not high, but they were exceeded. I have always thought Kirsten Dunst was great, and so she is here. Visually a joy (American road trip! Now!) and terrific soundtrack. Kerouac's madness and misogyny and mother-dependence are all featured, good.
But sterile, and the male characters were too fond of themselves. Unattractive in the book, and here too. But worth seeing. I think though on balance I'd rather have heard Jack Kerouac read the book.
