Review of On the Beach (1959) by Mathew H — 24 May 2007
Powerhouse of a film from one my favourite directors. in the light of what an atomic war may do to this world today the story may seem improbable that after a global thermonuclear war that there truly would be survivors but what this film accomplioshes quite dramatically is the hoplessness and futility of war on all levels. amazing peformances by all the cast especially wiith a rare non-dancing role for fred astaire.
Truly amazing.
