Review of On the Beach (1959) by Jamie H — 24 Apr 2008
On The Beach is a frustrating movie...you want to like it so badly, but I just couldn't.
The world has been destroyed by a nuclear war, everywhere except Australia has been wiped out, but not for long as a radioactive cloud is on it's way, and soon mankind will be done. We follow several big names as they try to live some life knowing that it's all going to end soon, but what we end up with is essentially a boring film that doesn't ring true (the world is over, yet no rioting, no panic, everyone just seems to go about their business like nothing has happened....and there seem to be very few Australians in Australia).
