Review of On the Beach (1959) by Daniel%20 P — 18 Aug 2018
A film that did not do well in it's time. However, it is somewhat prophetic considering the situation human beings are up against with climate change. As a general rule, movies that end tragically never do well simply because humanity wants its ego stroked.
And a movie about the extinction of humanity and civilization is no way to stroke a person's ego. Near the end two officers, with drinks in hand, knowing that the end is near, toast with "to a blind, blind world.
" For those of you who prefer action movies, this is not for you. But if you a little search in what it may mean to be human, this film may do the trick.
