Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Luis G — 09 Feb 2012
When your DVD collection includes all of the 22 "official" 007 Bond films, your are a 007 geek. So, being tha geek that I am & preparing for Bond #23 "Skyfall", not only will I watch all of Mr. Bond's films this year (again), I will review my top five.
#5- On Her Majesty's Secret Service.
This is George Lazenby's only Bond film but it was a memorable one. I believe Lazenby had the potential to be a better replacement for Sean Connery than Roger Moore. He did the unwise thing of listening to his agent & agreed to do only one Bond film feeling that he didn't wanted to be typecast. Bad move buddy. On the other hand, OHMSS is actually a real good film. The plot is not that strong but it's the chemistry between Lazenby & Diana Rigg that make this flick. The story of coors involves Bond trying to stop Blofeld (Telly Savalas) from unleashing his angels of death. Lazenby makes a much more realistic & believable Bond than Roger Moore but doesn't have tha suave that Moore has. No Prob, cuz Moore's Bond always seemed a little too wimpy for me. This flick also features the first time that Bond has a wife, which makes the ending more memorable (ala Casino Royale). if u haven't seen, watch it, it's a definite must see film.
