Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by Ron M — 17 Nov 2012
I was all wrong about this film. Next time I won't be so quick to take someone else's word for it. George Lazenby was an excellent Bond. The ubiquitous under-cover scenes where he assumes a guise of a renown English genealogist had the added nuance of Lazenby using a different accent. An excellent performance. Telly Savalas was great as Blofeld. His diabolical scheme was on a par with the best of them. Diana Rigg was arguably the best Bond girl ever, and most people don't seem to know it, because this Bond film is the one people seem to skip. It's a longer film than most, weighing in at about 2 hours and 20 minutes.
After finally watching On Her Majesty's Secret Service, I wished that Lazenby had just kept playing 007, and there would never have been any Roger Moore years. Still not my most favorite Bond movie ever, but pretty close! Watch it!
