Review of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) by James R — 20 Sep 2015
I remember seeing this before and not liking it too much. The Bond here is a darker and more violently depicted Agent. George Lazenby stars as 007 this time around and it's up to him to find out where Blofeld (Telly Savalas) has gone hiding.
It leads him to the Swiss Alps where under the disguise as a Coat of Arms professor he meets up and discovers Blofelds plan of using a virus to poison the worlds food supply. This is a long Bond film.
..the longest in fact up to this point. It does a lot of character development between Bond and his love interest in this film Tracy (Diana Rigg). Yup it finally has happened Bond finds true love in this film and even goes beyond what you probably think he would have done.
Lazenby does an excellent portrayal of 007 and its a shame he quit before he could have developed the character even more. The movie has some great cinematography and although the pacing slows down near the end it has a grand finale.
Overall, very much worth checking if you've never sen Lazenby's performance!
