I thought this film made no sense. First, they seem to be very much in love and he was aware of her intimacy issues before the wedding. What was unsaid (and probably extremely important) was the psychological abuse she was getting from her father.

I think this set her up for trust issues. Once you accept that for the reason the marriage failed, it doesn't explain why suddenly she could get married to this other person so quickly and have three children.

As I said, I thought the movie made no sense.
