One of the most action packed, surprisingly enjoyable films I've seen all year. Disengage you brain and enjoy! Non -stop right from the very start, this is Die Hard in the Whitehouse. Even a scene where one of the bad guys and the hero share a cigarette before the former ones cover is blown is a blatant nod at Die Hard.
I think this is why the film works... it is unashamedly a homage to action films of old, a little updated in places, with still the same level of plot holes you just have to let go, otherwise you won't enjoy it.
The acting is pretty good. The president, first lady, all the other guys (incl. Morgan Freeman) but it's ironically the main guy (Butler) and the main bad guy that are the most wooden and show no real character.
Despite that, I still loved this film.
