Review of O'Lucky Man (2003) by Stephen C — 26 Jan 2009
The 2nd part of the Mick Travis trilogy of films is a stonewall masterpiece with both Lindsay Anderson and Malcom McDowell at the peak of there powers .
Even at 3hours long the film never becomes boring as numerous great British actors including Ralph Richardson and Arthur Lowe play several roles in the story of Travis journey thru England and Thru life,in a kind of Pilgrims Progress story line.
Anderson atttacks theBritish Class Syndrome head on and attaches loads of filmaking touches to tell this story .
The most amazing of these is Alan Prices wondeful music score which drives the narrative.
Sadly neglected in this country the film is still as relevant today as it was in 1973 I urge you to catch this lost classic as it reaps many rewards.
