Review of Oliver Twist (2005) by Winnie T — 18 Apr 2008
I saw this movie and then read the book, and I really did not mind all the changes that were made to the story. I can understand why they cut it down, after all, most of the second half of the book doesn't even involve Oliver directly.
There are a lot of characters in the novel and putting them ALL into the movie would probably have made audiences very, very confused. I felt that everyone was very well cast (especially Bill and Nancy), and the setting and color made it work very well.
It's a very good movie and I would recommend it to anyone who can't manage to sit through reading Dickens.
