Review of Oliver Twist (2005) by Frances H — 16 Nov 2012
Although Ben Kingsley gives his usual excellent performance, and Polanski's version is superior, still, his cutting out the opening part of the book, which David Lean depicted so superbly, leaves the strong relationship between Mr.
Barlow and Oliver unexplained. Enjoyable though Polanski's film is, I must say that the best version of the book in every way is still David Lean's.
