Review of Oliver! (1968) by David L — 18 May 2014
It starts somewhat good, it has solid acting and it can be endearing at times, but Oliver! is unfortunately the worst 1960s Best Picture winner thanks to its boring tone, problematic pacing, very weak songs that all feel similar to each other plus the film seems that it could only be enjoyed by the eyes of a child.
In a year of Planet of the Apes, Night of the Living Dead and not to mention a classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, all of which not even nominated, this choice from the academy seems rather notorious nowadays.
