Review of Oldboy (2013) by Pete M — 23 Jun 2014

Honestly the film started off rather good, in a bloody good time kinda way.

Sometime around the one shot aftermath things go from descent to uncaring and half-ass'd.

And it blows that a remake of one of my favorite films had the potential to surpass it's predecessor but instead decided to give up around the second half.

But my biggest issues of the film was probably it's pacing, the first half got it right but the second tries to ram info down your throat that should be taken in slowly...and the bad guy came off as a random cliche with a in-a-way better but badly translated modus operandi...but still I did enjoy some scenes, so i'll give it a 5/10.
