Review of Okja (2017) by Brandon O — 02 Jul 2017
Bong Joon-ho's second English-language feature examines capitalist rapacity (and much more) by way of an unlikely, yet balmy relationship between superpig and young Korean girl.
Okja's involving narrative makes clever use of its themes, without over-politicizing. The humor here is better than most primary comedies, and a superb cast gives (almost) equally good performances all around.
While the tone is varied and bizarre, it's commanded wonderfully by this team. With rich emotion and even richer visuals, this is probably the best movie about superpigs you'll ever see.
