Review of Offside (2015) by Robert M — 08 Nov 2007
It's clever and funny (and, at its core, pretty sad)--a lot of Iranian films actually do have a lot of heart. The acting is natural--not amazing, but it didn't strike me as grating as a lot of others have said.
It's interesting to watch the obvious national pride the girls feel towards Iran while protesting its social problems. It's a cute little film that sparked something of a movement among women to be allowed to attend games (Ahmadinejad even voted for it, but was curtailed by the Ayatollah).
