Review of Of Time and the City (2008) by Juan R — 29 Aug 2010
A tender lyrical poem about a man who looks back at Liverpool's past, Terence recounts a certain distaste for his heritage, yet never denies his love for it. As if he's lost a sense of place, his words capture a fleeting glimpse of his youthful days as the stock footage permanently stamps his thoughts.
Even if "Of Time..." is deeply indulgent, Terence sneakily shines the spotlight on us. He's not interested in how we react to his story; in fact, he's interested in how we relate to our own past and present.
