Review of Of Time and the City (2008) by Paul D — 27 Sep 2010
Visually the film looks great, there is lots of fascinating archival footage spliced together here of an unrecognisbale Liverpool and the soundtrack fits perfectly with the images on screen. The narration is slow, boring, self-important rubbish that has no real structure to it.
Only when the narration is interrupted by sound bites and the soundtrack does it become more enjoyable. Will only be of interest to those who have grown up in Liverpool or lived here and it's probably a whole lot more enjoyable if you watch it with the mute button on.
