Review of Of Gods and Men (2010) by Dean A — 04 Jan 2011
A group of Christian monks in Algeria are threatened by violent Islamic extremists. But the heart of the film isn't the conflict between Christianity between and Islam; it's the story of how the monks work out how they can serve Christ in the face of persecution and death.
Some believe they should flee to safety in France. Others argue that Jesus countered violence with peace, and that they must do likewise. A thoughtful and moving treatment of the issues, showing nobility and compassion.
