Review of Odd Thomas (2013) by Aaron O — 30 Oct 2013
Odd Thomas as a book and character is very evenly paced, reflective, and purposeful in it's pacing - and not a jumbled action distraction that this movie ended up as.
It's enough to make me thank the legal shenanigans that kept the movie from being shown too far and wide.
However, I think Anton Yelchin was a good pick for Odd - if he had been allowed to play Odd as being more calm and level-headed.
Ms. Timlin sure looked the part, but played Stormy with about as much grace as a college student in a summer review - hitting the marks, but not giving the dialogue any grace.
If there's one thing to be said for this movie, is that it gave a good visualization to the bodachs - which, up until now, I had pictured more akin to the dark shadows that were shown in GHOST.
