Review of Oculus (2014) by Merrisha W — 23 Aug 2014
While the film starts off just a tad bit slow, Oculus is somewhat of a throwback to the films of yesterday as it uses a slow burn effect to focus on character and story development. Not only does the strategy work, the cast also does a tremendous job in keeping us emotionally invested to the characters they are portraying.
While some viewers may prefer jump scares and gore over this methodically paced film, that does not detract from Oculus being one of the best horror films we've been treated to in quite some time.
