Review of Oculus (2014) by Richard S — 09 Jan 2015
A cleverly written story that connects events across two time periods makes this one of the best horrors of recent years. The scares come from the slow build of tension rather than the sudden jumps of the boogie man jumping out if the darkness as seen in other horrors.
The actors make this film as they play the family dynamics perfectly from the happy early days to the darkness at the end as the family is pulled apart by forces that can't be controlled. Then we also have the ending, both shocking and sad, well done to the film makers for not going down to usual Hollywood cop out route with horror stories.
