Review of Oculus (2014) by Andrew B — 05 Apr 2015
When Karen Gillan decide to investigate the paranormal actions of an evil mirror, Karen and her recently released from psychiatric care brother are forced to relive a night of horror, they thought they had put behind them.
The idea of Oculus are sound, Karen Gillan and the guy who play her brother are fantastic in there respective roles. The film creates a lot of tension and the connections that the characters have feels pretty genuine. The problem with the film is that there is no context for why the mirror is evil. It just is and it likes to murder people. Why? Who knows. After you get past that aspect the movie is extremely well done, we'll acted, and one of the best new horror movies that has come out in recent years.
